Premiere Pro Tutorial : Discover the Lumetri Curve Controls

The Lumetri Curve controls in Premiere Pro are a powerful tool for making precise color adjustments to your footage. The Curve controls allow you to adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation of your footage in a variety of ways.

To access the Lumetri Curve controls, open the Lumetri Color panel by clicking on the Color tab in the Effects panel. Then, click on the Curves tab in the Lumetri Color panel.

The Lumetri Curve controls are divided into two sections: the RGB Curves and the Hue/Saturation Curves.

The RGB Curves section allows you to adjust the brightness, contrast, and saturation of all of the colors in your footage. The Hue/Saturation Curves section allows you to adjust the hue, saturation, and luminance of individual colors in your footage.

To adjust the RGB Curves, simply click on the curve and drag it up or down. To adjust the Hue/Saturation Curves, click on the colored circle and drag it up or down.

You can also add control points to the curves to make more precise adjustments. To add a control point, click on the curve. To remove a control point, right-click on the control point and select Delete Anchor Point.

Once you are happy with your color adjustments, click the Save button to apply the changes.

Here are a few tips for using the Lumetri Curve controls:

  • Use a reference monitor. A reference monitor is a calibrated monitor that will show you the true colors in your footage. This is important because it will help you to make accurate color adjustments.
  • Don’t overdo it. It’s important to make subtle color adjustments. Overdoing it can make your footage look unnatural.
  • Use your eyes. The best way to know if you’re making good color adjustments is to use your eyes. If the footage looks good to you, then it’s good.

Here are some examples of how you can use the Lumetri Curve controls:

  • Increase the contrast: To increase the contrast in your footage, drag the curve up in the shadows and down in the highlights.
  • Decrease the saturation: To decrease the saturation in your footage, drag the curve down in the midtones.
  • Adjust the hue of a specific color: To adjust the hue of a specific color, click on the colored circle for that color and drag it up or down.
  • Create a custom look: The Lumetri Curve controls can be used to create a custom look for your footage. For example, you could create a look that is more cinematic or more vibrant.

By following these tips, you can learn how to use the Lumetri Curve controls to make precise color adjustments to your footage and create stunning videos with professional-looking colors.
